Brunel have partnered with one of Australia’s leading EPCM delivery Service Partners to successfully recruit and place a suitably qualified Senior Instrumentation Engineer for an initial 18 month contract position. This position will support our clients Perth-based Sustaining Energy Projects Team and has the opportunity to turn into permanent role.

  • Participate in project execution strategy and planning.
  • Know the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assist the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Implement innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.
  • Support management of project change and progressing for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability.
  • Plan discipline quality, monitor quality activities, drive and participate in squad checking, recommend improvements, and take action where required.
  • Assist with recommendations and help create final documentation.
  • Determine technical issues, define alternate solutions, establish pros/cons for multiple solutions, and make recommendations to support official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
  • Build positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Support proposals by advising on the project execution strategy, estimating costs, writing proposal content, and presenting to customers. May be called upon to lead all or part of the technical proposal.
  • Support the business by communicating team resource loading and skill requirements to a direct supervisor or Discipline Manager
  • Ensure the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences.
  • Mentor/train and support the delivery of training.
  • Assist in the employee performance review process.
  • Facilitates coverage of activities when people are on leave.
  • Encourage knowledge of and compliance with requirements and processes.
  • Work to resolve inter-discipline, vendor, and customer issues.
  • Ensure discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Ensure team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Support the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
  • Contribute to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
  • Use local/global standards to support technical excellence.
  • Participate in bid clarifications, bid evaluations, inter-discipline vendor information review and approval, and other certification activities.
  • Seek input from knowledgeable sources, participate in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews, and incorporate requirements into design.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Solar/BESS/Hydrogen experience essential
  • A recognized tertiary qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent.
  • Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in the I&C discipline in the oil & gas or energy industry.
  • An excellent knowledge and understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices.
  • Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to positively influence others and develop strong internal and external relationships.
  • Strong experience working in a EPCM environment (preferred)
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
