Senior Software QA


About this role

We’re hiring a Senior Software QA for our client, a Mining company, to join their team. This is a full time permanent position offering a competitive compensation package.


  • Develop test plans using Test Plan writing tools (test plans, test scripts, test cases etc.)
  • Test assigned defects
  • Write accurate and concise bug reports
  • Execute functional, performance, load and regression tests (manual and automated)
  • May include development and management of automated test scripts
  • Maintain baseline test environments and databases for required product versions and configurations
  • Manage defects, including root-cause analysis and initiate process improvement to prevent future occurrences.
  • Organize, generate, and present (as needed) written testing results.
  • Provide sign-off that the tested software has met agreed quality KPIs.
  • Provide regular reports on testing activity against agreed quality KPIs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the software development process within the development team.
  • Other duties as required from time to time



  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance testing testing or related work experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Math, Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills are critical
  • Ability to write test case designs, test plans and well-formed bug reports
  • Ability to learn and work creatively with complex engineering applications
  • Familiarity with formal QA processes, strategies and techniques
  • Basic understanding of the SDLC, especially as it relates to QA/Testing
  • Knowledge of and experience in the MinePlan application and/or mining industry is advantageous.
  • Exposure to Scrum methodology is a plus
  • Familiarity with formal QA processes, strategies and techniques
  • Hands on experience with both black box and white box testing
  • Basic understanding of and some experience with C#, Java or Python
  • Understanding of source control, especially SVN or Git
  • Experience with issue tracking software tool (e.g JIRA)
  • Experience with testing database oriented applications
  • Ability to write SQL queries
  • Experience on Test Plan writing tool is a plus (e.g TestRail)
  • Exposure to Scrum methodology
